A generation ahead: The CLS-Class created a new vehicle category in 2003 by combining the elegance and expressiveness of a coup? with the comfort and functionality of a sedan. The CLS delighted the public, astounded the competition and created a new style icon: for years the CLS has endured as the only four-door coupe in its class, and since October 2004 it has been the car of choice for around 170,000 buyers worldwide. ‘Customers all over the world benefited from our bold move to launch a completely new vehicle concept onto the market’, explains a delighted Dr. Joachim Schmidt, member of the board of Mercedes-Benz Cars, Sales & Marketing. ‘And with its exciting design, the new edition of the CLS also benefits from the fact that we are a whole generation ahead of the competition with our four-door Coup?.’

Celebrating its world premiere at the Paris motor show (October 2 – 17, 2010), the 2012 CLS-Class builds on the pioneering role of its predecessor with a fresh new interpretation. ‘The new CLS points the way forward for the future perceptible design idiom of Mercedes-Benz‘, explains Professor Gorden Wagener, head of design at Mercedes-Benz. ‘At the same time it takes its inspiration from the great tradition of stylish, refined sportiness which has always been a feature of Mercedes coupes.’

The proportions remain as spectacular as ever: long hood, tightly-styled frameless side windows and a dynamic roof sweeping back at an angle towards the rear. The four-door Coupe from Mercedes-Benz immediately made its mark in 2003 as a new style icon. Though the proportions are the same, the second generation of this design trendsetter has a completely new look.
What immediately strikes the eye is the innovative front design, which is reminiscent of the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG. Visually, the radiator grille is not integrated into the hood but formed separately. This further highlights the long, sporty hood. The grille is dominated by the large central star, which unites the car with other Mercedes-Benz coupes and also enhances brand identity. The large, elongated dark air inlets with black grilles also add to the vehicle’s athletic appearance. Another distinguishing feature comes in the form of the full LED headlamps, which are the world’s first to offer all of the dynamic light functions using LED technology. This innovation boasts an impressive design – inside they are divided into three arrow-shaped layers from top to bottom: the upper layer contains an LED indicator, beneath which is a striking LED side light offers LED low beam functions. The side light can also be seen when the high beam is activated, thereby creating a unique night-time design. The lowest level of the headlamp houses the main beam and nightview functions. A total of 71 LED’s provide an unmistakable appearance as well as a significantly enhanced view of the road compared with previous systems.
The typical CLS outline, with its elegantly long proportions, is the dominating attribute of the new model. The effect of the dynamic, athletic form has been enhanced with a new interplay of lines and surfaces. A unique ‘dropping line’, which begins above the front wheel-wells and slopes downward towards the rear, represents a new interpretation of a renowned design hallmark of historic Mercedes sports cars.
A distinctive and muscular sports car-like shoulder line above the rear axle highlights the athletic character of the 2012 CLS. The flared wheel arches resemble the powerful thighs of a feline predator waiting to pounce.
2011 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
2011 White Mercedes-Benz E-Class
• Comfortable: AIRCAP® automatic draft-stop plus AIRSCARF®
• Quiet: sound-dampening soft top as standard
• Safe: robust roll-over protection and new headbags
The all new E-Class Cabriolet is the latest addition to the successful Mercedes-Benz E-Class line-up. The open-top two-door model, which goes on sale in May 2010, features a classic fabric soft top, making for a stylistically pure cabriolet feeling. Viewed from the side, the new model is an intriguing proposition – with its clear proportions and a flawless cabriolet silhouette.
In keeping with the motto ‘four seasons, four personalities’, all-year-round suitability was right at the top of the developers’ list of priorities. With the new E-Class Cabriolet, the cabriolet season lasts the whole year because, while many cabriolets tend to disappear from the roads in the Fall, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class Cabriolet (length/width/height: 185.0/70.3/55.2in.) provides driving pleasure and comfort whether the roof is open or closed.
2011 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe
• The AIRCAP® automatic draft-stop: always on board and easily controllable at the push of a button, it reduces turbulence substantially for all four seat occupants
• The modified AIRSCARF® neck-level heating system
• The sound-dampening soft top fitted as standard
The soft top can be opened and closed fully automatically within 20 seconds – even when driving at speeds of up to 25mph. The cabriolet roof is stowed in a special compartment behind the rear panel. A retractable cover separates the soft top compartment from the trunk area; it must be closed in order to close the soft top. If the roof is to remain closed, the cover can be slid rearwards, in which case the trunk capacity is increased by 3.17 cu. ft. to 13.8 cu. ft. A through-loading feature is included as standard for the new Cabriolet, as is EASY-ENTRY – a manually operated entry and exit aid for the rear passengers.

The power plants for the new E-Class Cabriolet are equally innovative: the engines combine efficiency with effortlessly superior power delivery. The exemplary, low fuel consumption has been achieved because of a number of practical measures. These include on-demand activation of the steering and fuel pumps, the use of tires with low rolling resistance and an alternator control system which takes account of the current driving situation and the vehicle’s electrical power requirements, plus the crucial factor of outstanding aerodynamics. The Cabriolet’s cd figure of 0.28 is the best in its class, marking a continuation of the E-Class success story in the field of aerodynamics.
In 1989, Mercedes-Benz introduced a world premiere in the shape of a draught-stop for the SL model series, followed in 2004 by the AIRSCARF® neck-level heating system to further enhance comfort in open-top models. Now comes another world-first: the AIRCAP® automatic draft-stop, which can be activated at the push of a button, greatly reduces turbulence in the interior of the new Mercedes E-Class Cabriolet, creating a sea of warm air. It is also much easier to implement and use than conventional draft-stops: there is no tricky installation, the two individual rear seats remain free and the Cabriolet‘s flowing side lines remain uninterrupted. AIRCAP® is therefore a classic Mercedes innovation: functional, comfort-enhancing, elegant and safe.
AIRCAP® consists of two components: a wind deflector that can be extended by around 2.4 inches with a net in the windscreen frame and a draft-stop
between the rear seats.

2010 Mercedes Benz Carlsson E-CK63 RS
2010 Mercedes Benz Carlsson E-CK63 RS sports car
The most dynamic business limousine by Mercedes-Benz is the E 63 AMG. The company AMG which is located in Affalterbach skilfully combines 525 hp (386 kW) with very luxurious interior equipment. But for Carlsson this was neither dynamic nor luxurious enough. The automobile manufacturer from Merzig, Germany presents the new E-CK63 RS based on the E 63 AMG and thereby discloses the technical possibilities.
The core part of the refinement is the entirely re-engineered V8-engine. The Carlsson engineers accomplished to boost the performance from 525 hp (386 kW) to impressive 585 hp (430 kW) without changing the cubic capacity of 6.2 litres. Also, the Mercedes specialists from Merzig increase the maximum torque from 630 to 695 Newton metres. With a perfected motor management, an optimised exhaust system and most accurate adjustments, the E-class top model by Carlsson accelerates from zero to 100 kph in only 4.5 seconds. This is three tenths of a second less than the acceleration values of the E 63 AMG.
2010 Mercedes Benz Carlsson E-CK63 RS
The head designer Rolf Schepp transferred the performance of the car to its appearance. His complete aerodynamics package containing front skirt, optionally with front spoiler lip RS in real carbon, side mouldings and rear spoiler reveals the power of the Carlsson E-class at first sight. All of these components are made of polyurethane (PU-RIM) which guarantees perfect fit and highest stability. At the same time all aerodynamics components render an increasing downforce during rising speeds and therefore ensure the optimal power transmission onto the road and safety even in the limit range. The rear skirt inlet of polyurethane (PU-RIM) grabs the stainless steel end pipes of the exhaust system on both sides and perfectly finishes the visual metamorphosis. When driving calmly, the exhaust system contains itself in a pleasant way, but once the driver accelerates, it presents a powerful sound backdrop which ideally matches the driving characteristics.

But Carlsson does not only enhance the performance and improves the aerodynamics. The revolutionary refinement of the E 63 AMG also shows in the new wheel design. With the Carlsson wheel 1/5 REVO in 8.5 and 10.5×20 inches, the automobile manufacturer fits a trend-setting, one-piece light alloy wheel. The wheel has five double spokes, one is painted in matt black and the others sparkle with a high-gloss polished surface and are aimed at the self-confident driver.
With the E-CK63 RS Carlsson in every respect presents a refined E-class. The Mercedes expert increases the athleticism, luxury and individualisation of the strongest business limousine. In addition, Carlsson confirms the renowned quality with a three-year Carlsson warranty for its own works.
2011 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Wagon
2011 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Wagon
Mercedes-Benz is launching its next-generation E-Class wagon at the New York International Auto Show, open to the public April 2-11, 2010 at the Jacob Javits Center in Manhattan. Packed with useful new safety technology, the stylish 2011 E350 4MATIC wagon is expected to reach U.S. dealerships this summer.
While the new E-Class wagon is styled more like a traditional sedan than an SUV, it boasts outstanding utility. Standard 4MATIC all-wheel drive provides an extra measure of traction, whether the road surface is wet, dry or covered with snow.
Smart-looking aluminum roof rails are standard, and inside, a 60-40 fold-down rear seat makes for cavernous cargo capacity that’s highly flexible. For example, the E-Class wagon can carry a grandfather clock and still accommodate three occupants, or a load of lumber can be carried with four people aboard.
2011 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Family Wagon
Its normal five-seat configuration can easily expand to seven seats by unfolding a standard third-row seat from the luggage compartment floor. The E-Class wagon is the only vehicle in its market segment to feature seven-place seating. With coil spring suspension up front and electronically controlled air springs at the rear, its load-leveling air suspension keeps the car level regardless of the cargo weight.
An elegant luggage cover and cargo net are attached at the beltline so they don’t interfere with the fold-down rear seat. At the same time, the cover can be attached to the folded seatbacks if needed, and it can be raised conveniently whenever the standard power liftgate is opened. The new E350 wagon comes standard with 4MATIC all-wheel drive. As modern all-wheel-drive systems become more refined, they are becoming increasingly popular, especially in the luxury car market. With negligible weight and fuel-efficiency tradeoffs, full-time four-wheel drive provides year-round traction and stability benefits on both wet and dry roads.
The latest Mercedes-Benz 4MATIC system is cleanly integrated into the automatic transmission so it fits right into the standard body and utilizes the existing front suspension. Fuel efficiency has been improved, due to a number of innovative measures that minimize the energy needed to turn the extra gears and shafts.
2011 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Luxury Wagon
Fitted with standard 17-inch split-five-spoke alloy wheels, the E-Class wagon is available in Sport or Luxury trim that is designed to appeal to a wide range of customer tastes. All Luxury models come with a comfort suspension and can be identified by a four-lamella front grille, contemporary yet elegant body styling and an interior featuring burl walnut trim. Sport models have a three-lamella grille, expressive sport body styling and are fitted with sport suspension that includes a slightly lower ride height. Inside, the Sport model includes a unique tone-in-black interior theme featuring black-ash wood trim.
Among the many standard life-saving features on the E-Class is the innovative ATTENTION ASSIST system that can alert the driver to the first signs of drowsiness, a factor that causes more than 100,000 accidents a year in the U.S. A steering sensor is coupled to smart software that uses 70 parameters to establish a unique driver profile during the first 20 minutes of driving. Between 50 and 112 mph, the system identifies the erratic steering corrections drivers make as they begin to get drowsy and triggers an audible warning, and a ‘Time for a Rest?’ message with a coffee cup icon in the instrument cluster.
Other examples of trailblazing innovations include: Lane Keeping Assist, which alerts the driver by simulating rumble strip vibration in the steering wheel if the car drifts from its lane without the turn signals on. At any speed above 37 mph, the system recognizes lane markings, thanks to a small camera in the windshield and a computer that analyzes the video images.
Adaptive Highbeam Assist uses a small video camera to sense both headlights and taillights, then softly and automatically transitions between high and low beam operation to avoid dazzling other drivers. With this system, the range of the headlights can be varied infinitely from their current 220 feet to up to 1,000 feet.
Night View Assist PLUS can now enable a driver to see pedestrians up to 300 feet earlier than before. When the system recognizes pedestrians, they appear in the display with an outlined frame highlighting each person. In contrast to passive systems that rely on thermal imaging, this active system bathes the road ahead with invisible infra-red light from two beams mounted in the headlights.
Extending the driver’s ability to see ahead to nearly 500 feet, Night View Assist PLUS uses an infra-red camera in the windshield and displays the reflected images as highly detailed black & white video images in the COMAND display.
The optional Distronic Plus system now includes Blind Spot Assist, which monitors both blind spots alongside the vehicle. Whenever a turn signal is activated with a vehicle in the blind spot, the driver gets visual and audible warnings.
Its optional Parktronic system also incorporates Parking Guidance, which utilizes ten ultrasonic sensors mounted behind the front and rear bumpers. At low speeds, the system scans available parking spaces and displays a ‘P’ in the dash if the car will fit in the space. When reverse is selected, Parking Guidance displays a pictogram of the steering wheel and provides helpful steering guidance.
2010 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

The Mercedes-Benz C-Class features four models – the 451-hp C63 AMG, the 268-hp C350 Sport and the 228-hp C300 Luxury and C300 Sport. All 2010 C-Class models now come standard with a new monitoring system showing individual tire pressures, more aerodynamic outside mirrors and a steering wheel covered in premium leather. In addition, the C300 Sport is equipped with new standard 17-inch five-spoke alloy wheels.
2010 Mercedes-Benz C-Class luxury limousine
All C-Class models boast Agility Control, which provides the benefits of both soft and stiff shock absorbers. Each twin-tube shock absorber is fitted with a hydraulic by-pass piston that acts like a very soft shock absorber to effectively dampen road noise and tire vibration. However, over bumpy or uneven roads, the by-pass piston is out of the picture, which preserves the outstanding steering and handling response of a stiffer shock absorber.
All C-Class sedans come with a ‘Sport/Comfort’ button, and in the Sport mode, understeer and body lean are reduced. In addition, throttle response is faster, steering feel is increased and transmission shift points are higher. In the Comfort mode, shift points are lower, and the vehicle starts off in second gear. On Sport models with the optional Dynamic Handling Package, the Sport/Comfort button includes a third ‘Manual’ mode for faster, more aggressive shifting.
2010 Mercedes-Benz C-Class interior design
For the first time on the C-Class, the convenient Keyless-Go system is also available. With the key still in a pocket or purse, the doors can be unlocked, and the car starts at the push of a button. Other new C-Class options include a rear-view camera, four-way power lumbar adjustment, a tilting side mirror for parking and a universal media interface.

The new-generation CL-Class also assumes a pioneering role with its drivetrain. Under the hood of the CL550 4MATIC a new V8 biturbo engine with BlueDIRECT technology delivers impressive power. With its 4663 cc displacement, the eight-cylinder engine produces 429 hp so that despite 0.8 liters less displacement, it is still around 12 percent more powerful than its predecessor, which had an output of 382 hp. At the same time, torque was raised from 391 lb-ft to 516 lb-ft – an increase of 32 percent. The new engine achieves a 10-15% improvement in fuel economy and 23% improvement in CO2 emissions. The CL5550 4MATIC requires a mere 4.9 seconds to accelerate from a standstill to 60 mph (previous model: 5.4 seconds). Summing up: the CL550 4MATIC is significantly more agile, torquey and thriftier than its predecessor.

2011 Mercedes-Benz R-Class
If there was a versatility test for automotive interiors, the R-Class would surely be the top contender for first place. The seating variants in particular offer a wide range of possibilities – the R-Class was designed with a focus on comfort and security and with relaxed and safe travel in mind. Long wheelbase versions (short wheelbase not offered in the U.S.) offer seating for six people in the standard layout. Five, six and seven-seat configurations are also available (U.S. models offer standard seating for 6, with 7 passenger seating optional). Standard equipment includes partially poweroperated seats for the driver and front seat passenger. Active ventilated and heatedmulti-contour seats with full power adjustment and memory function are available as an option (special order in the U.S.) for front seat occupants.

The R-Class delivers a further benefit in the shape of its large, versatile luggage compartment. The short wheelbase version (not available in the U.S.) has a luggage capacity of up to 1,950 liters, while the long wheelbase version offers a maximum of 84 cu. ft./2,385 liters. All five-seat variants come with a separate load compartment beneath the floor of the main luggage area. The optional power liftgate — controlled remotely from either switch or key fob — facilitates easy entry to the cargo area. This makes the R-Class the most versatile and spacious vehicle in the entire Mercedes-Benz passenger vehicle lineup.
In the finely appointed, airy interior — which feels even more spacious with the optional panorama glass roof — new materials and color combinations raise the premium feel and quality of this luxury crossover. They also add to the hallmark Mercedes ambience onboard. U.S. models offer a choice of standard MB-Tex in Cashmere and Ash in addition to popular Black. European customers can select from a range of upholstery combinations that include ‘Aspen’ fabric and MB-Tex simulated leather.
New to the international range are the two-tone interior finishes. The base color of Almond Beige can be combined with the contrasting Mocha Brown. Alternatively, there is the base color Alpaca Gray contrasting with deep Basalt Gray (choice of beige/black or grey/black on U.S. models). Both color combinations are applied to the cockpit, steering wheel, center console, seats, door trim and floor coverings. Contrasting seat piping complements standard MB-Tex or optional leather upholstery.
The AMG interior sports package (not available in U.S.) comes as standard with black Nappa leather upholstery. Alongside trim elements in dark brushed aluminum and chrome trim in Silver Shadow, customers can also order from opulent wood veneer trim in high-gloss eucalyptus, high-gloss burl walnut or poplar anthracite. U.S. models feature standard burl walnut trim or special order eucalyptus wood trim.
